Charles Chaplin, born on April 16th1889, London, was an English actor, filmmaker, and composer. He became aworldwide icon through his screen persona "the Tramp" and isconsidered one of the most significant figures in the history of film industry.His early works were mainly silent films and his first talkie was Modern Times which was madein 1936 and told stories of workers during the industrial revolution around1930s. In 1940, he made the film the GreatDictator which reflected Nazi’s cruelty during World War II. The majorfeature of his movies was the stir of miserableness and happiness in betweenwhere people tend to “smile with tears”. Chaplin’s last film was A Countess from Hong Kong made in 1967and this remains the only color he had made. In 1977, Chaplin passed away athis home in Swiss.
