一、after 表示“在...之后的一个时间点”，而动词的现在完成时则表示从过去到现在一个时间段的动作的结果。既然 after 表示时间点，那么主句中的谓语动词就不可能延续，因此如果有 after 引导的时间状语，主句中的谓语动词就不可以用现在完成时态，只能用过去时态或者将来时态。如：
I didn't see them after I arrived. 在我抵达之后（的那一刻），我没有见到他们。
I will write to you after I get there. 到那里之后（的那一刻），我会给你写信的。
二、如果想用完成时态，可以用 since 表示，如：
I haven't seen them since I arrived. 自从我我抵达之后，我（一直）就没有见到他们。
三、不过，after 从句中倒是可以用现在完成时或过去完成时表示将来动作已经完成以后的情况，如：
